Fishing Report August 2006

2006 is going to be a great year for striper fishing! The trend of releasing bigger fish has really spread around and we're already seeing the benefit. Alot of bigger fish have been showing up. Man, does it excite me about thinking about the near future where an average striper will be 13-15 pounds.

July was on fire for the majority of the month. We had some seriously hot days which brought the surface temps up to the 90's, but the fish stayed deep and continued feeding.

Look for August to have alot of jiggin, since they never really turned on to the jigs in July. We're using big bait right now to target the larger fish.

Here's a couple of Father, Son, and Grandson teams who pulled in some 16lbers, a 14lb and several other 10+ pound stripers.

August continues to produce some good days on the lake. The fish have been around Becky's and Betty's in pretty large schools. They're moving extremely fast so jiggin' has been more productive than bait on most days.

Hey, the captain gets to fish sometimes too.....Man, I love jiggin!
