Fishing Report January 2007

What crazy weather we're having this year! In January the water temps should be in the low 40's but we still have water temperatures ranging from 49-53 degrees. We've been catching fish down deep (40-60) deep like we should be this time of the year, but we're also catching alot of fish in shallow water, in the backs of creeks. We've finally got some cold air coming in and I'd suspect JIGGIN' will be in full effect by January 16.

Finally we've got some good cold weather and jiggin' has been great lately.

(We caught some really nice fish this day, unfortunately my camera settings were wrong and most of the pics were over-exposed the like the below0

Another 20....

In this trip, we caught fish by jiggin', on freelined planer boards, on downrods, on light weight planers and floats. Also, we caught these fish on both gizzards and alweives. The fish have been all mixed up with this crazy weather, so we have to utilize everything we got!

Here's Bill and Bob who are famous for their innovative Fly Fishing techniques and they were trying some new deep-fly techniques that were really neat.
We were fishing a day after a major cold front so the bite was off a little but we still put some nice stripers in the boat!

Here's some pretty good looks for winter fishing! You can see several fish being jigged up and being released in these readings:
