Fishing Report March 2009

Dang! What a cold winter we had! We had a major Threadfin Shad die-off this winter which hurt the fishing because the shad were dying and sinking to the bottom and the stripers would gorge themselves all day long. When this die-off happens, we don't see alot of fish on the fish finder and it just gets tough. The die-off was a good thing because the Threadfins are not a good bait fish to have in this lake because of their tendency to over-populate and then die-off. (When they over populate, they thin out the Gizzard Shad and Alewives. Then when they die-off there's nothing for the stripers to each) This die-off means that we're gonna have some really fat fish show up this spring so get ready for some pigs to start showing up!
